This is the full story of one of Grand Prix racing's most determined and professional drivers. At a young age Niki decided he wanted to be a racing driver but his wealthy Viennese family were dead set against it. Raising the money privately, Niki set his mind - and body - on the path to the top step of the F1 podium. Early forays weren't always successful but soon the bigger teams sensed his determination, drive and skill and it wasn't long before he was competing for the biggest name of the all: Ferrari. His crash at the Nurburgring when leading the championship in 1976 threatened not only his career but his life. He showed the grit of a true champion by coming back after just six weeks in a brave but forlorn attempt to hold off James Hunt's increasing challenge. Although he missed out on the title in '76 he would go on to add two more to his total and retire as a true Grand Prix Hero. This is the full story in interviews and archive footage with an expert narration by Sir Stirling Moss.
