Matt is a geologist tasked with investigating two massive sinkholes in New Orleans, Louisiana. His girlfriend Allison is the Mayor's assistant and must decide if the sinkhole problem will extend into necessitating Mardi Gras' cancellation. All the information Matt can give Allison is that the sinkholes could become a serious issue anywhere from one week later to 300 years. With no direct evidence and pressure to keep the town's coffers full, the Mayor is advised to keep the city open for Mardi Gras. Unfortunately, this seems to have been a poor choice and necessitates a rush to acquire liquid polyurethane.
