Parts of The Family is a 2003 drama-thriller directed by Léon Paul De Bruyn. The movie revolves around Robert, a disturbed man who kidnaps women and brings them to his underground bunker where he keeps them captive until they eventually become part of his family. The story takes place in a small town in Belgium and follows the lives of three victims, all of whom end up being taken by Robert.

The movie begins with a blonde woman named Saskia who is kidnapped by Robert and brought to his underground bunker. At first, she is in shock and has trouble adjusting to her new surroundings. However, she soon realizes that she is not the only prisoner in the bunker and discovers that there are two other women already there – a young girl named Jennifer and a woman named Lydie.

As time passes, the three women begin to form a bond and try to survive their captivity together. Meanwhile, Robert's obsession with his captives grows and he starts to blur the lines between being their captor and being a member of the family they have created.

The movie also gives glimpses into the lives of the women's families and the efforts they make to find their loved ones. Saskia's mother, played by Cecilia Bergqvist, is determined to find her daughter and even teams up with a police officer to track down Robert. However, their efforts are often thwarted by Robert's advanced preparations and anxieties.

The performances in the movie are compelling and convincing, with each of the actors portraying their characters with great depth and intensity. Bob Dougherty is particularly impressive as Robert, presenting a complex and damaged character with great nuance and subtlety.

The cinematography is also noteworthy, with the dim and dingy bunker setting creating an appropriately claustrophobic atmosphere. The direction is tight and deliberate, always keeping the suspense and tension high while rarely showing the more graphic aspects of the story.

Overall, Parts of The Family is a gripping and haunting exploration of the psychological trauma of captivity and the lengths people will go to in order to survive. While it may be too intense for some viewers, it is a well-crafted thriller that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats from start to finish.
