"Powaqqatsi" (1988), which is also known as "Powaqqatsi: Life in Transformation" is the second film in a trilogy. Like the first movie, "Koyaanisqatsi," it has no dialogue. Its main theme is the tension in developing countries between their age-old traditions and the Western ways of life brought in by industrialization. Among the places shown are a gold mine in Brazil, an African village and a temple in Nepal. The title is Hopi for "life in transition" or "parasitic way of life."
