Prem-O-Paap is a Bengali film released in 1986. The movie is directed by Prabhat Roy and stars Satya Bandopadhyay, Tarun Kumar Chatterjee, and Chiranjit in lead roles. The film is a family drama with romantic elements. The story revolves around a wealthy businessman named Bipin Bihari Chowdhury, played by Satya Bandopadhyay, who is a proud and egoistic man. He has two sons, Raja and Baja, who are spoiled brats and indulge in all kinds of vices. Bipin's younger sister, Dolly, played by Anamika Saha, is a meek and soft-spoken girl who is mistreated by her brother and nephews.

Things take a turn when Dolly falls in love with a simple and honest man named Gopal, played by Tarun Kumar Chatterjee. Gopal is the complete opposite of the Chowdhury family and he treats Dolly with the utmost respect and care. However, when Bipin finds out about their relationship, he is furious and forbids Dolly from seeing Gopal.

Meanwhile, Raja and Baja get involved with a gang of criminals and become entangled in a murder case. The police begin investigating the case and soon enough, the entire Chowdhury family is implicated in the crime. Bipin's pride comes crashing down as he realizes that his own sons are involved in such a heinous act.

Amidst all this chaos, Gopal stands by Dolly's side and helps her navigate the difficulties she faces with her family. His unwavering support and love for her are the only solace she has in such trying times.

The movie is a poignant portrayal of familial relationships and the consequences of giving in to one's pride and ego. It also emphasizes the power of love and the importance of standing by one's loved ones, no matter what. The performances by the cast are noteworthy, especially Satya Bandopadhyay who perfectly captures the essence of a proud and stubborn patriarch. The music by Bappi Lahiri is catchy and adds to the overall appeal of the film.

Overall, Prem-O-Paap is a must-watch for those who enjoy family dramas with a hint of romance. The film's timeless quality and relatable themes make it a classic Bengali movie that continues to resonate with audiences even after all these years.
