The erotic drama Fifty Shades Darker is an installment in the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise. This time around, the couple's unconventional romance is threatened by people and incidents from Christian's past. The movie opens after Anastasia Steele has left Christian Grey. Christian's plan is to lure Anastasia back into his life. She takes the bait and agrees to come back. But she has conditions. Their old arrangement, in which he manipulates and controls her, will no longer stand. This time around, she'll be in charge of her own destiny. The new deal seems to be working. The couple begins to rebuild trust, and they're on their way to happiness again. They take the time to visit opulent places and partake in extremely expensive activities. But when Ana sees a mysterious woman lurking around, she begins to worry. The woman is from Christian's past, and she seems to want to do something bad to the couple. The film is the second installment in the Fifty Shades franchise. The films are based on the books written by E.L. James. The stories were initially written as Twilight fan fiction, but they gained immense buzz when the books became best sellers. Fifty Shades Darker opened to broadly negative reviews. Critics were unimpressed with the story and the acting of leads Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson. Fifty Shades Darker was a commercial success, however. It earned $381 million worldwide. The follow up, Fifty Shades Freed, was also successful, but less so.
