Fifty Shades of Black

"Way shadier than gray."

This Marlon Wayans parody pretty much follows the path taken by the movie Fifty Shades of Grey, spoofing it every step of the way. Wayans plays Christian Black, a millionaire businessman with more than one secret. He meets and becomes interested in virgin Hannah Steale when she interviews him for her college newspaper, and the rest is history, but with a comic twist.

We meet Christian's shady and racist adoptive parents. Jane Seymour plays his mother, who tases Hannah in one hilarious and outrageous scene. Adding to the fun are Kateesha, Hannah's promiscuous roommate and an elderly Florence Henderson playing the part of a seductress.

Each scene, from Christian stalking Hannah in the hardware store to the uncomfortable coffee date and photo shoot is leading to the Red Room of Pain, with breathtaking aerial shots of Seattle's shimmery skyline in between.

There are subtle nuances in this movie that speak to the viewer, like whips that are named for slavery movies and comments about undue nudity for the female character in the original movie. But the pratfalls and fun carry you through the bulk of this movie.

As Christian and Hannah progress in their relationship, a bit of their true personalities are revealed with some surprises in store for each of them and for the audience. Hannah proves to be Christian's equal as they negotiate their sexual contract and move forward toward their mutual satisfaction.....or are there more surprises in store? For the audience, the best is yet to come!
