Senseless is about a financially struggling college student, Darryl (Marlon Wayans), aiming for a junior analyst position with the Smythe-Bates brokerage firm, for which the loathsome Scott (David Spade) is his competition. Scott has a distinct advantage due his wealthy background, while Darryl must fight alone while supporting himself financially with several jobs. To alleviate his money problems, Darryl enters a risky, but high-paying clinical trial for a new drug designed to enhance all five senses. Darryl uses his newly powerful senses to play goalie on the school's hockey team and boost up his credentials for the analyst position with Smythe-Bates. The severe rectal itching that comes as a side effect of the drug provides several comical moments. Through all this, Darryl courts a young woman named Janice, whose father, Mr. Tyson, oversees the competition. After taking an extra dose of the drug one day, Darryl experiences a devastating complication where only four of his senses will work at any given time. Darryl's misuse of the drug results in several unfortunate situations. Without the benefit of sight, he professes his love to his girlfriend's father. He embarrasses himself at a basketball game with important clients when his hearing cuts out during the national anthem. Furthermore, Darryl's roommate finds syringes laying around their apartment, leading him to conclude that Darryl has been abusing heroin. Through all this, Janice is quite tolerant of Darryl's erratic behavior and misadventures, and sticks with him through the mess despite an embarrassing encounter early in the film. Darryl must also successfully avoid the advances of Janice's sorority sister, Lorraine, who tries to seduce him. The film culminates with the final selection for the junior analyst competition, for which Darryl studies with his roommate while Scott works with his father's business associates. Darryl must then decide whether to tell the truth about his candidacy.
