The Emperor's New Groove is an animated film taking its title from the Danish fairytale The Emperor's New Clothes. The film features a spoiled, self-centered young man thrust into the role of Emperor. Eighteen year old Kuzco (David Spade) is only concerned with amusing himself regardless of the state of his people. He plans to build himself an extravagant vacation home on a plot of land already inhabited by a small family. Kuzco has the owner of the home "Pacha" (John Goodman) brought to him. When advised of the destruction of his home and the affect the new vacation home will have on his village Pacha loses his temper. Meanwhile Kuzco's adviser Yzma (Eartha Kit) plots with her sidekick Kronk (Patrick Warburton) to poison Kuzco so that she may take over the empire. A mix-up occurs with the vials and instead of dying Kuzco is transformed into a llama. Kronk is tasked with disposing of Kuzco but his guilt prevents him from following through. Following a series of comedic events, Kuzco and Pacha become an unlikely team pursued by Yzma and Kronk. Kuzco repeatedly learns and promptly forgets valuable lessons about friendship and his responsibilities as a ruler. He is humbled by his llama form and becomes more conscientious of the people surrounding him despite himself. When Pacha over-hears Yzma and Kronk plotting, he immediately alerts Kuzco to the danger they pose. Kuzco refuses to believe Pacha since he has no recollection of his transformation. This causes a rift in their new friendship and they part ways. Misadventure brings the two together again and they race to the palace attempting to retrieve the antidote before Yzma. The Emperor's New Groove is a Disney animation. The all star cast delivers the promised comedy with polish. Kuzco eventually learns many important life lessons that serve him well in leading the empire, as the end of the movie portrays.
