The American comedy Private Lessons is a film that talks about a young boy Philip who got involved in a relationship with a lady in her thirties who was working as a maid in their house. It all started when Philip started developing feelings for Nicole and started doing things like looking furtively at Nicole through her a small space into her room. Nicole caught Philip doing that and took advantage of the situation by encouraging Philip to enter her room and close the door behind him. Philip did as Nicole asked him to by entering the room and closing the door but saw himself running out of the room when Nicole undressed herself and tried to make advances at him. The maid did not stop there but went on to seduce him so many times that the young boy gave in to her advances. The two went out on a few dates like to the movies, restaurants and became fully involved with each other. The story unfolds to the level when the Lester Lewis the family driver found out about what had been going on between Philip and Nicole. He used this as a little secret to threaten Nicole. He wanted to use the situation to achieve his own aims against Philip which he did. Nicole pretended to be dead and Philip was accused by Lester of having killed her, so with Lester’s help he buried Nicole secretly. As planned, Nicole’s body disappeared after which Philip started receiving messages in the form of written notes from an unknown sender ordering him what to do and the penalties that awaited him if he failed to do so. Nicole on the other hand was also facing a similar situation under Lester’s control she was forced to do everything he asked her to. If she failed to do so, he planned to expose her secret. However, in the course of the story Nicole, who had truly fallen in love with Philip, told him the truth. They both ran away from home, came back later but Nicole for fear of her boss finding out about her relationship with his son left and never returned again. The characters in the film are played by popular and talented actors and actresses like Eric Brown who featured as Philip, Sylvia Kristel who starred as Nicole the maid, Howard Hesseman who played the role of Lester the driver. The concept about the film was developed by Dan Greenburg who adapted the series from one of his novels Philly.
