Raíces del Barrio features agricultural projects in San Juan, Puerto Rico that promote food sovereignty, urban gardening, and community living. The movie was released at the end of 2015, roughly a year and a half before Hurricane María struck the island. The crew is now working on a sequel that features the agroecological movement that it's now thriving in Puerto Rico.
