Remedy is a 2013 independent drama film that tells the story of a young woman, Georgia (Kira Davies), who returns home to New York City after a failed attempt at pursuing her dreams in Los Angeles. Back in her hometown, she is caught up in her family's dysfunction and the world of alternative medicine practitioners. Georgia's mother (Ashlie Atkinson) is a struggling herbalist, who has never been able to achieve success with her remedies despite her genuine belief in their healing powers. Her sister, Swan (Julia Ubrankovics), is an acupuncturist who is able to connect with her patients in a way her mother never can. The two sisters have a fraught relationship, and Georgia's return only underscores the tension between them.

Despite all of this, Georgia is determined to help her mother succeed with her remedies. When her mother suffers a health scare, Georgia steps in to assist with the production and distribution of her remedies. However, as Georgia becomes more deeply involved in the world of alternative medicine, she begins to question her own beliefs and wonder if her mother's remedies are indeed effective.

As Georgia navigates her complicated family dynamics, she also begins to reconnect with an old flame, Leo (Ian Harding), who is now a successful investment banker. Though initially skeptical of Georgia's new career path, Leo is captivated by her passion and they begin to rebuild their relationship.

Throughout the film, there is a tension between science and alternative medicine, as well as a critique of the healthcare system in the United States. Remedy shows the struggles of those who believe in the power of natural healing, but face obstacles in their efforts to make a living and help others.

While the film tackles heavy themes, it is laced with humor and warmth, and the performances by the cast are excellent. Davies is particular standout as Georgia, balancing her character's determination and vulnerability with nuance.

Remedy was directed by Cheyenne Picardo, who also co-wrote the film with Kira Davies. The film was well-received by audiences at independent film festivals and offered a fresh take on the intersection of family dynamics and the world of alternative medicine.

Overall, Remedy is a thought-provoking drama that will leave viewers questioning their own beliefs about healthcare and the power of natural remedies.

Remedy is a 2015 drama with a runtime of 2 hours and 1 minute. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.9.
