In the sequel to Return to Tarawa, Leon Cooper, a former World War 2 Navy Landing craft officer once again returns to the Philippines to ignite more of an effort to recover the remains of over 80,000 American GI's that died in Europe and the Pacific and were pronounced Missing in Action (MIA) and to bring some sort of closure to the families of these soldiers.
