Safe Harbor is an emotional drama about a family in crisis, directed by Mark Griffiths and released in 2009. It stars Tracey Gold as Christine, a devoted mother and wife struggling to keep her family together through difficult times. The story begins with Christine and her husband Richard (Steve Bacic) enjoying a peaceful life in a small town with their two children, Max (Mitchell Kosterman) and Abby. But their idyllic world is shattered when Max is diagnosed with leukemia, and the family must deal with the fallout of his illness.
As Max undergoes chemotherapy, Christine and Richard struggle with their own feelings of helplessness and fear. Christine becomes increasingly desperate to find a cure for Max's cancer, and begins to investigate alternative treatments that may help him recover. But her search for answers threatens to tear the family apart, as Richard resists her efforts and tensions rise between them.
As Max's health deteriorates, the family turns to their community for support, but finds that even in the close-knit town of Safe Harbor, not everyone is willing to lend a hand. However, one unlikely source of assistance comes in the form of a surly neighbor, Tom (Jamie Johnston), who begins to watch out for Max while Christine and Richard are preoccupied with his treatment.
As the family struggles to cope with Max's illness, they must also confront their own demons and come to grips with the deeper issues that are threatening to tear them apart. Throughout it all, Christine remains a devoted and loving mother, determined to do whatever it takes to save her son.
