Saving Private Perez is a Mexican Spanish language film released in 2011 and directed by Beto Gómez. Starring Miguel Rodarte as crime lord Julian Pérez, Saving Private Perez is the story of a Mexican drug lord who undertakes a suicide mission to Iraq to locate his missing in action American soldier younger brother. Julian Pérez is not a man who respects authority. He is the brutal leader of a Mexican drug syndicate and has a reputation for fearing no one and killing anyone who gets in his way. However, there is one woman who can still bring Julian to his knees: his mother. Caught in the midst of an existential crisis, Julian is so desperate for his mother’s affection and his own moral redemption that he is willing to risk his life on a seemingly unwinnable mission.
