See What I Say is a short 1981 documentary that was nominated for an Academy Award. This film focuses on deaf and hearing impaired women and explores their use of sign language as a primary form of communication. The women discuss living with hearing difficulty and how the use of sign language has improved their everyday lives. In a strange twist, this documentary is shot in very dark settings which seems contradictory, but solidifies many of the film makers main points about communication with the deaf.
