Shrunken Heads is a horror-comedy movie from 1994, directed by Richard Elfman, that revolves around three teenagers who are resurrected from the dead as shrunken heads and use their newfound powers to take revenge on their killers. The movie starts with three young friends, Tom, Billy, and Freddie, living in their rough neighborhood of New York City, where gangs and violence are a part of daily life. The three of them are trying to survive and resist the temptation of joining the gangs that control their area.

One day, after a failed attempt at car theft, they are caught by the notorious Mr. Sumatra, the leader of a gang that controls the area. Mr. Sumatra, who is displeased with their actions, decides to kill them. However, the three friends are brought back to life as shrunken heads thanks to magical powers held by a voodoo priestess, who is also their neighbor.

The shrunken heads retain their memories and personalities, but with an added bonus of magical powers such as levitation, invisibility and mind control. Armed with these abilities, they set out to take their revenge on the gang members who killed them.

As the story unfolds, the three shrunken heads become more powerful and confident as they systematically take down the gangsters. While on their revenge mission, they face several challenges, including battling supernatural beings, dodging law enforcement agencies, and navigating the enticing world of the other side beyond their neighborhood.

The eccentric characters are a highlight of this movie. The voodoo priestess, played by Meg Foster, brings exceptional energy to the story and serves as a guide for the shrunken heads on their journey. Her character is mysterious, intriguing and provides an excellent balance of humor and horror.

Julius Harris plays the role of Mr. Sumatra, the vicious gang leader, with great panache. His presence and acting are a constant reminder of the danger that the shrunken heads face.

Aeryk Egan, who plays the character of Tommy, does a great job of conveying the bravado of a teenager facing life in the ghetto. He is charming and daring, but also realistic and relatable to the audience.

The plot of the movie is unique and exciting. Its blending of horror and comedy is seamless, making it entertaining to watch for a wide range of audiences. The special effects are not especially realistic by today's standards, but they convey the intended supernatural storyline well.

Overall, Shrunken Heads is a well-executed horror-comedy movie from the ‘90s that is entertaining, engaging, and unique. The strong performances of the cast, combined with creative cinematography and original music score, provide a satisfying cinematic experience. If you're up for a wild and bizarre ride, this movie is a perfect choice.

Shrunken Heads is a 1994 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 26 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.0.
