Slackers is a raunchy teen comedy that was written by David H. Steinberg. Directed by Dewey Nicks, the film features Devon Sawa, Jason Segel and Robert B. Martin Jr. Dave Goodwin (played by Devon Sawa), Jeff Davis (played by Michael Maronna) and Sam Schecter (played by Jason Segel) are the best of friends. They spent most of their four years at the Holden University scheming and partying their way through. Dave is the mastermind, while Sam is the resident grifter. Jeff is the hacker who uses social engineering to get by. Ethan Dulles (played by Jason Schwartzman) notices the guys at the restaurant where he works since they have been printing fake IDs for the Birthday Club to get free food. During final semester, Dave uses a blue book to write questions down for the midterm. Sam swaps his book for a blank one that the TA Phillip had to use to cheat on the exam. The guys set up Ethan in situations to convince a girl named Angela to like him. Ethan fails in his attempt due to his immaturity, behavior and social inadequacy. Dave and Angela discover that they are attracted to each other. Unbeknownst to them, Ethan has been following them and recording their dates. Ethan shows the tape to Sam so that they know that Dave intends to keep Angela all for himself. In exchange for the tape, Sam and Jeff give them their research on her. No one has figured out that Ethan is still actually obsessed with Angela. Ethan presents the tape to Angela to insinuate that the guys have been stalking her. As a result, she breaks up with Dave. The guys get expelled. Dave and Angela get back together. Sam winds up in a relationship with Reanna Cass, Angela's roommate (played by Laura Prepon). After Reanna and Angela graduate, Jeff falsifies all of their diplomas from the University. Ethan, however, continued his work at the local restaurant.
