Slate, Wyn & Me is a 1987 Australian drama film directed by Mark Joffe and starring Sigrid Thornton, Simon Burke, and Martin Sacks. The story follows a group of friends who live in a small outback town and their complicated relationships with one another. The film begins with the return of Slate (Burke), a handsome and charismatic man who left town years ago and has now come back to reunite with his childhood friends. He quickly reconnects with Wyn (Thornton), a beautiful young woman whom he has always had a crush on. However, Wyn is now married to the dependable and hard-working farmer, Alby (Sacks), who is feeling neglected by his wife's flirtatious behavior with Slate.

As Slate settles back into his old life and hangs out with his friends, tensions start to emerge between the group. The dynamics of the relationships become further complicated when one of Slate's old flames, Laura (Natalie McCurry), comes back into town and catches the eye of his friend, Ringo (Stephen Whittaker).

Throughout the film, Slate must confront his past and the bad decisions he's made, while also figuring out how to navigate his complicated feelings for Wyn. Meanwhile, Wyn must navigate her feelings for Slate and decide if she wants to stay with her stable but unexciting husband, Alby.

The film is a poignant exploration of love, friendship, and loyalty set in the beautiful Australian outback. The stunning scenery serves as a backdrop to the complex emotional drama that unfolds among the characters.

Sigrid Thornton gives a standout performance as the conflicted Wyn, torn between her sense of duty to her husband and her passion for Slate. Simon Burke is equally impressive as the charming and reckless Slate, who brings a sense of danger and excitement to the lives of his friends.

Martin Sacks also shines in his portrayal of Alby, the hard-working and loyal husband who feels threatened by Slate's return. His quiet strength and vulnerability make him a sympathetic character, even as his marriage falls apart.

The film is beautifully shot, with sweeping shots of the outback landscape that capture both its rugged beauty and harshness. The scenes of the friends hanging out together, swimming in the local waterhole, and drinking together in the pub have a warm and nostalgic feel, but also a sense of melancholy as the group starts to drift apart.

Slate, Wyn & Me is a moving and thought-provoking film that explores the complexity of human emotions and relationships. The strong performances from the lead actors, the stunning scenery, and the evocative soundtrack make it a must-see for fans of Australian cinema.

Slate, Wyn & Me is a 1987 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.3.
