S.O.S. Iceberg is a 1933 adventure film directed by Tay Garnett and starring Rod La Rocque, Leni Riefenstahl, and Sepp Rist. The film follows the journey of a young writer named Tom who embarks on a dangerous expedition to the Arctic with his fiancée and her father. The movie begins with Tom, an adventurous and romantic writer, proposing to his fiancée, Elsa, the daughter of a wealthy scientist. Elsa's father, Professor Amic, has just returned from an expedition to the Arctic and is convinced that there is a land beyond the ice that he calls "The Land of the Future". He plans to return there with Elsa, and when Tom learns of this, he decides to join them on the expedition.

The team sets off on a large vessel but soon encounters treacherous icebergs and strong winds that threaten to capsize the ship. The captain of the vessel, John, skillfully navigates through the ice but soon realizes that they are low on fuel and will not be able to make it back to civilization. Using his expertise, John decides to guide the ship towards a large iceberg, where they intend to establish a base and wait for rescue.

Once on the iceberg, the team begins to explore the area and make scientific observations. They soon discover that the iceberg is hollow and contains a vast network of caves and tunnels that lead to a warm and lush valley inside the iceberg. The team members are amazed by the discovery, but their joy is short-lived as they soon realize that their food and supplies are running low, and the unpredictable Arctic weather threatens their survival.

As the team faces increasingly grim circumstances, they must work together to find a way to survive. They begin to explore the valley inside the iceberg, hoping to find a way to escape or signal for help. Along the way, they encounter a group of strange humanoid creatures that appear to be friendly but also have mysterious motives.

Throughout the film, the team members experience a range of emotions, from fear and desperation to hope and love. The film effectively captures the cold, desolate, and dangerous conditions of the Arctic, as well as the resilience and resourcefulness of the human spirit.

S.O.S. Iceberg is notable for featuring Leni Riefenstahl, a German film director, actress, and photographer, in one of her rare acting roles. Riefenstahl, who later gained notoriety as the director of Nazi propaganda films, delivers an engaging performance as Elsa, the determined and resilient fiancée of Tom. Rod La Rocque, a popular silent film actor, also delivers a strong performance as Tom, the adventurous writer.

Overall, S.O.S. Iceberg is an engaging adventure film that combines science fiction, romance, and exploration. It is a testament to the human spirit and the importance of working together in times of crisis.
