Dom Giotti is a man on a mission. He believes that Staten Island, the outermost borough of New York, is full of history and culture that has been largely untapped because of a lack in mass transit alternatives. He also believes that the commuting needs of Staten Islanders have largely been unmet. His solution: a catapult that will launch people from Staten Island to downtown Manhattan and back in five minutes.

The Staten Island Catapult chronicles Dom’s efforts to develop a large-scale catapult that could launch commuters across the water safely. With interesting facts about Staten Island throughout, the film follows Dom and his Staten Island Catapult Development Committee as their proposal is met with doubt and confusion.
