Stick is a thrilling action-packed movie from 1985 directed by Burt Reynolds, who also stars in the leading role as Ernest 'Stick' Stickley. Candice Bergen and George Segal also feature in the movie. The story follows the life of Stick, a small-time crook who has just been released from prison after serving a lengthy sentence. Upon his release, Stick is determined to turn his life around and leave his criminal past behind. However, his plans are quickly derailed when he is offered a job by a former associate, Nestor (Castulo Guerra), to steal an expensive sports car. Stick agrees to the job, but the heist goes wrong when the car's owner, Barry Braham (George Segal), turns out to be a wealthy businessman with ties to the criminal underworld. Stick is then caught in the middle of a dangerous power struggle between Barry and a ruthless drug lord named Chucky (Charles Durning). As Stick tries to navigate his way through the chaos, he meets Kyle (Candice Bergen), a beautiful and ambitious journalist who is investigating the seedy underbelly of the city. Together, they uncover a web of corruption and deceit that threatens to destroy everything they hold dear. The movie is full of intense action scenes, car chases, and gunfights, all of which are flawlessly executed. The film's pacing is excellent, and the audience is kept on the edge of their seats throughout. The tense atmosphere is heightened by the movie's dark and moody soundtrack, composed by Michel Colombier. But what really sets Stick apart from other action movies of its time is the brilliant casting choices. Burt Reynolds delivers an outstanding performance as Stick, bringing his trademark wit and charm to the role. Candice Bergen is equally impressive as Kyle, adding a much-needed level of complexity and depth to the story. George Segal is excellent as Barry Braham, playing the character with the right amount of vulnerability and menace. Charles Durning is also fantastic as Chucky, who is a truly terrifying villain. Stick is a gem of a movie, and while it may not be as well-known as some of the bigger action movies of its time, it certainly deserves more recognition. It's a thrilling ride from start to finish, with great performances, fantastic action sequences, and an engaging story that keeps the audience hooked. If you're a fan of classic action movies or just looking for a great movie to watch, then Stick should definitely be on your watch list.
