Still Born is a horror movie that tells the story of Mary (Christie Burke) and Jack (Jesse Moss), a young couple who, after the birth of their first child, Adam, move to a new house in the countryside, in order to start a new life. However, things quickly go wrong when Mary becomes haunted by a supernatural entity that seems to be after her baby.
The movie takes its name from the concept of stillbirth, which is the term used when a baby is born dead. In the case of Still Born, Mary and Jack's baby is born alive, but it quickly becomes apparent that something is wrong. Adam barely sleeps or eats, and Mary becomes increasingly paranoid that there is something wrong with him.
As the days go by, Mary's mental state deteriorates, and she starts to see and hear things that aren't there. She also becomes convinced that the entity that is haunting her is trying to take her baby away from her. Jack, on the other hand, is skeptical of Mary's claims and thinks that she is suffering from postpartum depression.
The tension between Mary and Jack builds throughout the movie, as Mary becomes more and more convinced that something is wrong with their baby. She tries various methods to protect him, including using a baby monitor that picks up on paranormal activity, but Jack dismisses her concerns as delusions.
As the hauntings become more intense, Mary decides to seek the help of a local medium, played by Michael Ironside. The medium tells Mary that the entity that is haunting her is a demon that feeds on newborns, and that Adam is in immediate danger.
From there, the movie becomes a race against time, as Mary and Jack try to find a way to protect their baby from the demon that is after him. They face numerous challenges along the way, including a visit from social services and a break-in by a group of local teenagers.
The climax of the movie is tense and terrifying, as Mary and Jack fight for their lives and the life of their baby. The ending is satisfying and offers some closure, but also leaves room for interpretation and reflection.
Overall, Still Born is a well-executed horror movie that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. The acting is solid across the board, with Christie Burke giving a standout performance as Mary. The cinematography and sound design are also top-notch, creating a suitably eerie atmosphere. The movie does rely on some familiar horror tropes, but it effectively builds tension and creates a sense of dread that will linger long after the credits roll.
