Super Zeroes is a 2012 comedy film directed by Potsy Ponciroli and written by Edmund Lupinski. The movie focuses on a group of teenagers who are not your typical superheroes, and their attempts to save their hometown from a nefarious villain. The film centers around the characters of Troy (Reece Thompson), a charming slacker who has spent his life trying to fit in, and his oddball friends, the boisterous and unpredictable Leo (Blaise Miller) and the nerdy Curtis (Travis Nicholson). The group has never quite fit in with the rest of their peers, but when a new supervillain emerges in their town, they see an opportunity to finally prove their worth and make a difference.

The villain in question is the evil Dr. Frost (Lee Valmassy), a mad scientist with aspirations of world domination. He has created a powerful and mysterious device called the Gravity 8, which has the ability to control gravity, and plans to use it to turn his hometown into his personal playground.

Desperate to stop Dr. Frost, Troy and his friends attempt to transform themselves into superheroes, but the process doesn't go quite as planned. Instead of gaining superpowers, they find themselves imbued with bizarre abilities that are more detrimental than helpful.

For example, Troy gains the power to turn his skin into steel, but only for two minutes at a time, and he can't move while he's transformed. Leo gains the ability to teleport, but only to random locations he's never been to before, leaving him stranded and lost. Curtis gains the power of telekinesis, but only when he's suffering from severe allergies.

Despite the setbacks, the trio decides to band together and use their unique skills to stop Dr. Frost and save their town. Along the way, they recruit the aid of a slightly unhinged former superhero named The Crimson Bolt (Graham Clarke), who brings his own brand of unhinged vigilante justice to the mix.

Super Zeroes is a delightful, offbeat film that manages to balance snappy dialogue, zany plotlines, and genuinely heartfelt moments. The movie doesn't take itself too seriously, and instead focuses on the humorous and absurd nature of the superhero genre.

The performances by Thompson, Miller, and Nicholson are all excellent, with each actor bringing their own unique strengths to their respective roles. Thompson, in particular, shines as Troy, imbuing the character with equal parts humor and heart.

The film's humor is largely derived from the trio's attempts to use their bizarre powers in creative ways, and the gags are consistently amusing. The film also features several inventive action sequences, including a delightful showdown between the good guys and Dr. Frost's robotic henchmen.

Despite its low budget, Super Zeroes manages to capture the spirit of classic superhero movies, while also adding its own unique spin to the genre. Unlike many other comedies that lampoon superhero culture, Super Zeroes manages to be both funny and lovingly reverent towards superheroes and their conventions.

While the film may not have been a box office hit upon its release, it has since developed a cult following, largely due to its clever script, charming performances, and overall sense of fun. If you're looking for a superhero movie that isn't afraid to take risks and think outside the box, then Super Zeroes is definitely worth a watch.

Super Zeroes is a 2012 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.6.
