Swayamkrushi, released in 1987, is a Telugu drama film directed by K. Viswanath that revolves around the struggles of a visually-challenged man named Raja (Charan Raj). The film begins with Raja's father passing away, leaving him and his mother in a state of shock and despair. Despite being visually-impaired, Raja is determined to lead a normal life and make his father proud.

With his mother's support, Raja takes up various odd jobs to make ends meet. One day, while working at a construction site, he meets a girl named Sumathi (Sumalatha). Initially, Sumathi is apprehensive about Raja's disability but eventually, they become close friends.

As Raja and Sumathi's friendship blossoms, her father (Kaikala Satyanarayana), who is a rich landlord, disapproves of their relationship and Thinks that Raja is taking advantage of Sumathi's kind nature. Meanwhile, Raja decides to start a business and with the help of his friend, he opens up a small lemon stall.

However, disaster strikes when a customer accidentally spills a hot cup of tea on Raja's hand, burning it severely. Despite the setback, Raja refuses to give up and continues to work hard to achieve success.

As Raja's business begins to take off, Sumathi's father decides to test his sincerity by offering him a huge sum of money to leave Sumathi alone. Raja is torn between his love for Sumathi and his self-respect but ultimately decides to choose the latter.

The film takes an emotional turn when Raja's mother falls ill and is in need of money for her treatment. Raja is left with no choice but to accept a job offer from Sumathi's father, who had previously scorned him.

In his new job, Raja is tasked with sorting through heaps of paperwork, which he struggles to do due to his disability. Despite this, he refuses to give up and seeks help from a kind-hearted colleague.

Towards the end of the film, Raja and Sumathi's relationship is put to the test when she is forced to choose between marrying Raja and following her father's orders. The film concludes with a heart-rending climax that will leave its audience in tears.

Swayamkrushi is a poignant and touching film that portrays the strength and resilience of a visually-challenged man in the face of adversity. The film's narrative is further elevated by its brilliant performances, especially by Charan Raj, who delivers a compelling portrayal of Raja's character. Sumalatha's portrayal of Sumathi is equally impressive, and her on-screen chemistry with Charan is palpable.

Despite being released over three decades ago, Swayamkrushi's message of perseverance and triumph over hardship remains relevant to this day. The film's iconic soundtrack, composed by K. V. Mahadevan, is another highlight and perfectly complements the film's emotional tone.

Overall, Swayamkrushi is a timeless classic that will leave a lasting impact on its viewers long after the credits have rolled.
