This documentary from Finland chronicles the devastating effect that the Second Chechen War had on the children of Russia and Chechnya. It is told in three different chapters. The first hardship on the children is longing. Children who are orphans are trained to fight in the war, with not much of a future. The second chapter, breathing, illustrates how the landscape has been pockmarked by the fighting, with many of the buildings completely destroyed. The third chapter, remembering, profiles some of the children who are brought to the orphanage after suffering sexual abuse at the hands of Russian soldiers.
