The Atomic Brain is a science fiction horror film from 1963, directed by Joseph V. Mascelli. The movie features an old wealthy woman named Mrs. March, played by Marjorie Eaton, who is obsessed with finding a way to transfer her brain into a younger body. To achieve her goal, she hires a mad scientist named Dr. Otto Frank, played by Frank Gerstle.

Dr. Frank has a laboratory in his basement where he conducts experiments on animals and humans. He has already successfully transplanted the brain of a cat into a bird and a monkey into a dog, so he is confident that he can help Mrs. March achieve her goal. But there is a catch; to transfer a brain, a suitable body is required. So, Dr. Frank has to recruit young women who are willing to sell their bodies for a large amount of money.

Mrs. March and Dr. Frank invite three young women to their mansion and conduct interviews to select the most suitable candidate. The first woman is rejected because of her poor health, the second because of her poor education, and the third, a gold digger named Nina, played by Lisa Lang, is chosen because she is young, healthy, and has no family ties. The deal is that Nina will receive a large sum of money if she agrees to let her body be used by Mrs. March for a month and then come back to life. At first, Nina is reluctant, but her greed ultimately drives her to accept the offer.

However, Dr. Frank has a hidden agenda. He has fallen in love with Nina and plans to transfer Mrs. March's brain into Nina's body permanently, so that he can have a young and beautiful wife. He prepares the surgery and goes ahead with it, but things don't go as planned. Nina's body rejects Mrs. March's brain, and she starts to behave erratically. Her mind becomes a mix of Mrs. March and Nina's personality, leading to catastrophic consequences.

The Atomic Brain is an interesting movie that explores the concept of immortality and the consequences of playing God. The movie is slow-paced, but it builds up the tension well. The black and white cinematography adds to the eerie atmosphere of the film. The acting is decent, with Marjorie Eaton standing out as the wicked old woman. The character of Dr. Frank is also well portrayed, with a blend of madness and vulnerability.

One of the strengths of the movie is its depiction of the women characters. The Atomic Brain showcases how women are treated as objects and commodities, especially when it comes to their physical appearance. Mrs. March's obsession with youth and beauty is a reflection of the patriarchal society's expectations of women to look young and beautiful at all times. Even Nina, who initially refuses to sell her body, ultimately agrees due to her greed, highlighting how poverty and economic vulnerability force women into making difficult choices.

However, the movie also falls short in some aspects. The plot feels disjointed at times, and some scenes seem to drag on unnecessarily. The movie also suffers from some pacing issues, with some scenes being too slow and others too rushed.

Overall, The Atomic Brain is a decent sci-fi horror movie that explores interesting themes. While it's not the best movie in the genre, it's an enjoyable one that fans of classic B-movies will appreciate.

The Atomic Brain is a 1963 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 5 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.0.
