Originally a short story, The Doll is a 2008 short film portraying the life of an African-American man who is a barber during the times when segregation is legal in America. He is raising his daughter, his motivation in life. She keeps him from arguing with and even murdering the white American customers who continue to view African-Americans as inferior.
