Derek Jarman's The Garden explores questions of homosexuality and Christianity in a particularly artsy way. In it, a happy gay couple face a horrible fate when they are attacked by homophobic forces. The film is put together in a disjointed, nonlinear way, and it includes very little dialogue. Instead, it features images of Christian iconography, unusual scenes of beaches and the nuclear power plant near Jarman's home, and bizarre music. The film features Tilda Swinton, Johnny Mills, and Philip MacDonald. The film was produced in association with Britain's Channel 4.
The Garden is a 1990 drama with a runtime of 1 hour and 35 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.4.
