The Last Executioner is a biographical drama released in 2014. It is directed by Tom Waller and stars Vithaya Pansringarm, David Asavanond, and Penpak Sirikul. The movie is a real-life account of Chavoret Jaruboon, a Thai executioner, who was responsible for executing 55 criminals between 1984 and 2003. The movie starts in 2003 when Chavoret Jaruboon, played by Vithaya Pansringarm, has been retired for not being able to execute an innocent man. He is living his life with his wife, Tippawan, and their daughter, Namtan. He runs a noodle shop near his house in Bangkok, and people identify him as a celebrity because of his past profession.

The story quickly moves back to Chavoret's early life, his childhood, and his difficult relationship with his strict father, who was the village headman. As a child, he was extremely curious about life and death. He was always interested in learning more about the human body and the mechanisms behind death. As he grew up, he was fascinated by the job of the executioner and how one could end another person's life with a single move.

After several failed attempts to join the army, he finally got his opportunity to become an executioner by chance. This opened up a new world of opportunities for him. He started learning the art of executing people humanely and making it as quick and painless as possible. He believed that he was doing an important public service by ending the lives of convicted criminals.

As he progressed in his career, he became the chief executioner of Thailand. He was also responsible for keeping the 'Manual of Death,' containing the methods of execution and guidelines on how to execute a person humanely. He executed many convicted criminals, including foreign nationals, drug lords, and the infamous serial killer, Chalermchai. But he always believed that he was doing a great service to society, and he saw his job as a way of maintaining the moral integrity of the country.

As much as he loved his job, he faced serious challenges that put him in ethical dilemmas. He was assigned to execute a mentally unstable prisoner who had no idea of his crime. Jaruboon refused to do this as he felt that this was an unjust move by the authorities. This decision of his almost cost him his job, but he stood firm to his beliefs.

His second encounter with moral dilemma came when he had to execute an innocent Burmese man who resembled the actual criminal because of mistaken identity. This affected him to the extent that he refused to execute anyone who was innocent. This decision of his forced him to retire.

The Last Executioner is a powerful story of a man who stood up to his beliefs in the face of extreme adversity. It is also the story of a man who loved his job, but realized the implications of his profession on his family and his own self. Vithaya Pansringarm played the role of Jaruboon exquisitely and gave it a humanlike touch. The movie is an amazing watch if you are interested in learning about the life of an executioner and the implications of a job that involves taking someone's life.
