The Marquis (Le Marquis) is a French comedy film released in 2011, directed by Dominique Farrugia and co-written by Farrugia and Franck Dubosc, who also stars in the lead role. The film revolves around Dubosc's character, Thomas Gardesse, a successful businessman who is suddenly fired from his high-paying job. In an attempt to salvage his reputation, he pretends to be a tough and powerful martial arts expert called "The Marquis" in order to impress his potential new employer, played by Jean-Hugues Anglade.

However, Thomas' lies spiral out of control when his former boss, played by Richard Berry, reveals the truth about his past to everyone. Thomas' wife and children are also caught up in the chaos as he struggles to balance his double life as a martial arts expert and his real identity as a devoted family man.

As the film progresses, Thomas becomes more and more consumed by The Marquis persona and begins to lose touch with reality. The comedy of the film derives from the contrast between Thomas' mundane and unremarkable life as a family man versus his over-the-top and exaggerated persona as The Marquis.

The film features several action-packed fight scenes, choreographed by legendary fight coordinator Yuen Woo-ping, known for his work on The Matrix and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

While The Marquis was not a critical success, it has developed a cult following among fans of French comedy and action films. Dubosc's charismatic performance as Thomas/The Marquis, as well as the film's absurd humor and over-the-top action sequences, make it an enjoyable and entertaining watch.

The Marquis is a 2013 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 24 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.9.
