Throughout their entire history, Mormon women have never been equal to their male counterparts.. As evidence that this is a sexist cult, Mormon women even today are not permitted to attain the priesthood, thus relegating them to a different status as members of the Church. Historically, Mormonism has a long and troubling history of violence, including murder especially in the nineteenth century. Their history of further contributing to the degradation women by practicing polygamy before the United States government banned this practice in the 1890's is well documented. This sordid history is directly linked to Mormonism being what it is today- a psychosexual cult. So, it's not any wonder that Joseph Smith, the founder of the cult was married at least 35 times. Unfortunately for him, he chose to marry the wives and daughters of the citizens of Carthage, Illinois which directly related to his murder while being incarcerated in a local jail.
