The Mountain Thief takes place in a world that was destroyed by war. The aftermath of the conflict left the planet covered in mountains of trash. Those who managed to survive the war must scrounge these mountains in an attempt to survive. This film follows the tale of a father and son as they try to create a life for themselves in this bleak future. They journey across the landscape of trash looking for a safe place to call home. On their journey they encounter other survivors each trying to find their own unique way to redeem themselves from the war that destroyed civilization.
