The movie “Red Tail” shares the story of Ray Koch, a Northwest airline employee who went on strike with his fellow workers when the company threatened to lay off union workers and outsource their jobs. The film shows the plight of working class mechanics, flight attendants, custodians and cleaners, from the early days of the strike until the end. In the film, Melissa Koch, Ray’s daughter, also shares her father’s journey to meet the Chinese worker who ended up taking his job when the airline outsourced 4,400 jobs.
