The Watsons Go to Birmingham

Set in the summer of 1963, The Watsons are an African-American family living in Flint, Michigan. Parents, Daniel and Wilona, and their three kids: 15 year-old troubled teen, Byron, brainy 11 year-old Kenny, and eight year-old adorable little sister Joetta are an all american family. However, Daniel and Wilona begin to get fed up with Byrons rebellious antics. They decide enough is enough. As an attempt to spark change his behavior the family takes a trip to visit their Grandma Sands. Grandma Sands is a no nonsense woman, living in Birmingham, Alabama. The family packs up their car, and head on down South. After lots of comedy and memories made a long the way. The Watsons are welcomed lovingly by their Grandma and her friend Mr. Robert. As the Watsons begin their visit and take a look at the sights around town, they realize that life in Birmingham is very different than their life in Michigan. Eyes are opened and lives are changed.
