The movie They Chose Freedom is a four-part documentary that focuses around the political dissent of the USSR during the 1950s through the 1990s throughout Moscow. This documentary gives viewers an in-depth view on how the Soviet dissent came about during the 1950's due to poetry reading being banned at Mayakovsky Square in Moscow. It also discusses the various demonstrations that took place during 1965 through 1968 in Moscow and the unjust repression that was presented from the Soviet authorities such as prison camps. Also, viewers will see how the Soviet dictator collapsed and how the revolution came about during 1991.
