Thumbelina is a 1992 animated musical fantasy film directed by Don Bluth and Gary Goldman. The film is based on the story of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen. The film portrays the story of a tiny girl named Thumbelina, who lives with her mother in a flower. One day, a fairy prince named Cornelius visited her, and they fell in love. But soon, she was kidnapped by Mrs. Toad, who wanted Thumbelina to marry his son, Grundel, the toad. Mrs. Toad was jealous of Thumbelina's beauty and wanted her to be removed from the competition of forest fairies.

Thumbelina managed to escape from the Toad and began her journey back home with Cornelius. Along the way, she faced many obstacles and met many friends, including Jacquimo, a swallow, who helped her several times. She also met the jitterbug, who wanted her to stay and dance with him, and Berkeley Beetle, who was a dangerous character who betrayed Thumbelina and tried to sell her to Mr. Mole, who was obsessed with collecting pretty things.

During her journey, Thumbelina also met a group of fairies who needed her help in saving their flower from the frost. Thumbelina sacrificed her own chance to get home and helped save the flower. In turn, they helped Thumbelina when she needed it most.

The film's soundtrack is notable for featuring many popular singers of the time, such as Jodi Benson (of The Little Mermaid fame), and making use of songs written by Barry Manilow.

Thumbelina is a film that is primarily aimed towards children, but it has enough elements to appeal to adults as well. The characters are all unique and engaging, with the animation bringing them to life in a way that still holds up today. The film's central message of following your heart and fighting for your own happiness is one that is still relevant and important today.
