Tomorrow Is Today is a 2006 independent drama film directed by Frederic Lumiere. This movie tells the story of Julian (played by Mark Hefti), a troubled and suicidal young man who is sent to a mental institution after attempting suicide. There, he meets some individuals who are also in the facility due to different issues. These includes Robert (Warren Draper), an elderly man who suffers from Alzheimer's, and Sylvia (Scout Taylor-Compton), a young woman with borderline personality disorder.

As Julian struggles to deal with his own inner demons, he begins to form a bond with Sylvia, who shares his passion for music. Through their conversations, Julian learns about Sylvia's tragic past and how she ended up in the institution. Meanwhile, Robert, who is in a constant state of confusion due to his illness, becomes fixated on a young nurse who reminds him of his late wife.

Throughout the film, Julian also has flashbacks of his difficult childhood, which gives the audience some insight into why he feels the way he does. As the story unfolds, Julian becomes more and more attached to Sylvia, and starts to see a future for himself. However, his progress is threatened by the different obstacles he faces, including difficult therapy sessions and the pressure from his estranged father to leave the facility.

The movie tackles themes such as mental illness, love, and the power of music as a means of healing. It also highlights the importance of human connection and empathy, and how sometimes, the most unlikely relationships can bring comfort and hope to those who are struggling.

Tomorrow Is Today is a slow-paced and emotional movie that showcases the talents of its lead actors. Mark Hefti delivers a convincing portrayal of a troubled young man, and Scout Taylor-Compton shines as his love interest. Warren Draper's performance as the elderly man with Alzheimer's is also noteworthy, as he perfectly captures the confusion and vulnerability that comes with the disease.

Visually, the film is shot in a dreamlike manner, with a soft focus and muted colors that create a sense of melancholy and introspection. The music in the movie is also a standout feature, with several original songs written and performed by Mark Hefti and Scout Taylor-Compton.

Despite its low budget and indie status, Tomorrow Is Today is a touching and poignant movie that resonates with viewers long after the credits have rolled. It is a reminder that life is a journey full of ups and downs, and that no matter how hard things may seem, there is always hope for a better tomorrow.
