This is a Horror/Comedy that spoofs the vampire movie genre. The plot revolves around a group of college students who travel to Romania to attend school there. Transylvania is synonymous with the settings of classic horror films since the 1930s, and those movies as well as the current crop of screen vampires, are the targets of the comedy here. Most, if not all of the familiar horror movie clichés are represented and lampooned as the young people confront an unrelenting series of encounters with monstrous terrors, all played for maximum laugh value. Rusty (Oren Skoog) has talked his stoner friends into traveling to this far-flung and spooky location in order that he meet in person a girl he’s up to that point, only had a relationship with online. His clueless buddies don’t take much convincing to get on board as they enroll for a semester at Razvan University. Little do they know that when they take up residence in a haunted castle they are signing on to do battle with the vampire Radu. This particular bad guy just happens to be a dead (pun intended ) ringer for Rusty, which leads to scenes that employ a well worn evil twin type sub-plot. The humor tends to be of the lowest common denominator variety, with slapstick and sight gags, the order of the day. Drug humor and grotesque visual elements are employed frequently. Along with the ghoulish goings-on there are lots of scantily clad and non-clad coeds along with vampire girls to liven up the bloodthirsty proceedings. Stories involving vampires in both movies and on television having become such big business, a spoof that combines goofy teen comedy elements with the trendy blood suckers must have seemed like a good idea at the time. In order to enjoy the mindless silliness of Transylmania, You might want to leave it for when you are in the mood for something that falls into the category of it's so bad it's good.
