The movie Video Girl, is a film that is directed by Ty Hodges. This film centers around a young lady who experiences the harsh realities, and pitfalls of a video girl in the industry. Lorie whose character is played by Meagan Good, has aspirations of becoming a ballet dancer. When things don't work out as she hoped, she is crushed. Meagan's character who has also been working at a dead in job, dreams of a better future for herself. She then begins to seek out other avenues to make her dreams come true. Things began to look up for Lorie, when she is invited to attend a party with her sister Stacey. Stacey's whose character is played by Megan's real life sister Lamyia Good, urges her to attend and have fun. While at the party an old friend, whose character is played by Haylie Duff introduces Lorie to Shark. She is invited to a video shoot and is soon on her way to California. When she gives her grandmother the news she is livid. Her grandmother whose character is played by Ruby Dee, expresses both her disappointment and disapproval. When she gets to California, Shark takes her under his wing and she becomes the hot it girl of the video world. It soon becomes clear that in the industry Shark controlled everything surrounding Lorie's career. Things soon take a terrible turn when her sister is killed in an altercation involving her boyfriend and another guy. Megan's character becomes the highest payed girl in the game but soon finds herself spiraling out of control. She begin's partying, drinking and using drugs. She becomes trapped in that world and becomes another person. After being raped by a film producer, she soon sobers up, returning home and leaving that world behind. She reaches out to an old friend, whose character is played by Datari Turner and starts to begin a new life.
