Woman in Cages is a 1971 film of a women’s struggle in prison, produced by Roger Coman, directed by Gerardo de Leon, and written by David Osternout. The story starts with the protagonist Carol Jeffries (Jeff), who portrays the aspects of innocence, gullibility, and delicacy in women. Rudy (Jeff’s partner), who portrays abusive masculine power and cold heartedness, later takes advantage of Jeff’s ignorance. Rudy treats women as objects with prices on their heads and inferior to the male species. Jeff then meets Alabama, known as a sadistic woman who abuses her power within the prison, and later meets Theresa who finds herself in an unhealthy relationship with Alabama. Sandy, who represents the voice of reason, finds herself getting into trouble. Theresa, Sandy, Stokes and Jeff fight for their freedom and rightful place in society.
