As BoJack Horseman approaches the end of its second season, "Out to Sea" finds its eponymous protagonist spiraling ever further out of control. Having written what he considers to be his literary masterpiece, BoJack (voiced by Will Arnett) struggles to come to terms with the fact that it has been poorly received by critics and audiences alike. This sends him into a deep funk, and he finds himself unable to extricate himself from his own self-defeating patterns.

Meanwhile, Diane (voiced by Alison Brie) continues to struggle with her own demons. Feeling aimless and unfulfilled, Diane turns to BoJack for comfort and companionship, but soon finds that he is equally adrift in his own life.

As the two of them struggle to find their way, they are forced to confront some difficult truths about themselves and each other. BoJack, in particular, is forced to confront his longstanding tendency to self-sabotage, as well as his deep-seated insecurities and fears of being vulnerable. Along the way, he receives some unexpected advice from a wise old friend, who helps him to see that he has more to offer than he ever realized.

"Out to Sea" is a poignant and powerful episode that manages to capture the show's unique blend of humor and pathos. Fans of the series will find much to love here, as the episode provides a satisfying conclusion to a season that has been full of twists, turns, and emotional highs and lows. Whether you're a die-hard fan or a newcomer to the series, this is an episode that is sure to leave a lasting impression.
