Ep 1. Flushed

In "Flushed," the first episode of the British sitcom Coupling, we are introduced to the group of friends at the center of the show. As the night progresses, the group makes their way to a bar where they continue to drink and flirt with one another. Jeff is determined to impress Nancy, but his attempts at witty banter fall flat. Meanwhile, Steve and Susan navigate their conflicting views on relationships and attraction. Jane, sensing tension between the two, suggests they engage in a game of "fact or fiction," which only serves to complicate things further.

As the night draws to a close, each character finds themselves in unexpected romantic situations. Steve makes a move on Susan, but she rebuffs his advances, while Jeff finally manages to win Nancy over. Jane, meanwhile, runs into Patrick and the two of them share a flirty moment before parting ways.

Overall, "Flushed" does an excellent job of setting up the characters and their dynamics. The show's fast-paced dialogue and clever humor make for an enjoyable viewing experience, while the romantic entanglements hint at what's to come in future episodes.
