Dressed in black and sporting a Lone Ranger-style mask, the figure dramatically strides towards the man and unsheathes a pair of scissors. With a few deft snips, the man is freed from his shoes and the mysterious figure disappears into the night.

The episode ends with the man, free at last, walking away from the scene with a newfound sense of confidence and purpose. He even manages to salvage his job interview, which he had previously written off as a lost cause.
