Harvey Street Kids Season 1 Episode 11 Clinging in the Rain / Raccoon Harder Picture Show

Clinging in the Rain / Raccoon Harder Picture Show is the eleventh episode of Harvey Street Kids season 1. The opening half, Clinging in the Rain, focuses on the protagonists encountering Waldo, a popular kid who is too afraid to get wet in the rain. Following this, the second half, Raccoon Harder Picture Show, deals with the kids trying to find a place to watch a horror movie after Two-Bit's endearing attempt to set up a backyard theater fails.

In the first half of Clinging in the Rain, as rumors about a new water slide coming to Harvey Street circulate, Waldo reveals his fear of getting wet to the Harvey Girls. Waldo is known for his perfectly styled hair and neat clothes, no matter the weather. Frustrated by his limitations, Waldo has spent most of his life avoiding any situation that might land him in contact with water. Recognizing the importance of facing one's fears, the Harvey Girls take it upon themselves to help Waldo overcome his phobia as the rain pours down upon them. As the girls decorate the street with an array of colorful umbrellas, a nervous Waldo attempts to join them. However, after accidentally stumbling under the gutter and getting soaked, Waldo flees in fear, leaving the girls an opening to finally tackle the water slide on their own terms.

The second half of the episode, Raccoon Harder Picture Show, sees the girls' plans to watch the "most horrifying movie ever made" fall apart at the last minute. After they are told they cannot use Waldo's basement for their midnight movie screening, and Two-Bit's backyard screen is rendered unusable due to a raccoon infestation, the girls are left scrambling to find a new home for their horror fest. As the girls venture into the woods to find a suitable spot, their plans continuously veer off in unexpected ways. With Lotta taking on the role of their movie guide, the girls search for a quiet clearing to set up their projector, encountering creepy critters, spooky shadows, and just plain nonsense. The girls eventually discover a wooded nook featuring an overhanging boulder that resembles a giant bat, a setting perfect for their horror movie viewing, and settle in for a chilling but disappointing experience.

Clinging in the Rain / Raccoon Harder Picture Show is a classic Harvey Street Kids episode, full of hijinks and humor with the Harvey Girls tackling everything in their unique style. The first half explores the importance of facing one's fears and trying new things, a message thrown into relief by Waldo's attempts to break free from his fear of water. The second half of the episode adds a touch of horror while still keeping things light and silly, as the girls run themselves ragged trying to set up the perfect movie screening. Overall, this episode offers a fun and entertaining viewing experience for audiences of all ages.
