Honest Game Trailers Season 2 Episode 38 MARIO PARTY 10 (Honest Game Trailers)

  • March 24, 2015

Honest Game Trailers is back with more hilarious critiques of classic video games, and in season 2 episode 38, they're taking on Mario Party 10. This game is the tenth installment in the popular Mario Party series and follows a similar formula to its predecessors: players take turns moving around a game board and compete in mini-games for coins, which can be used to buy stars. The player with the most stars at the end of the game wins.

But as Honest Game Trailers points out, Mario Party 10 has some serious flaws that make it less enjoyable than its predecessors. One major issue is the lack of variety in the game boards – there are only five to choose from, and they all feel pretty similar. The mini-games also suffer from lack of variety, with many of them feeling repetitive and uninspired. And while the game does introduce some new concepts, such as the Bowser Party mode where one player takes on the role of Bowser and tries to defeat the other players, these additions feel like they're trying too hard to be different without actually improving the overall game.

Another major issue with Mario Party 10 is the introduction of the amiibo party mode, which requires players to have physical amiibo figures in order to unlock certain features. This feels like a cheap ploy to get players to spend more money on collectible figurines, and the mode itself isn't all that fun. Plus, as Honest Game Trailers points out, if you don't have any amiibo figures, you're missing out on a significant chunk of the game.

Despite these flaws, the game does have some redeeming qualities. The graphics are bright and colorful, and the game is generally easy to pick up and play. There's also a fair amount of nostalgia factor for fans of the Mario Party series, as many of the mini-games are callbacks to previous games in the series. Plus, if you're playing with a group of friends, the game can still be a lot of fun despite its shortcomings.

Ultimately, Honest Game Trailers finds that Mario Party 10 is a mixed bag. While there are certainly things to enjoy about the game, it's hard to overlook its lack of variety and the gimmicky amiibo party mode. If you're a diehard fan of the Mario Party series, you might still find some enjoyment in this game, but if you're new to the series or looking for a party game that's truly groundbreaking, you might want to look elsewhere.
