In the opening episode of Jordskott season 1, titled "Jordskott: Part 1," we are introduced to Eva Thörnblad, a police detective who has just returned to her hometown of Silverhöjd after a long absence. She is there to investigate the disappearance of a young boy named Josef, whose case has gone cold after six months.
As Eva digs deeper into the case, she begins to uncover some unsettling truths about her hometown, its inhabitants, and even her own past. For one thing, Josef is not the only child who has gone missing in recent years; there have been others, all of them around the age of ten. And it seems that all of them were last seen in the sprawling forest that surrounds Silverhöjd, known as the "Jordskott" (meaning "earth stroke" or "land push").
Eva's investigation brings her into contact with a number of locals who seem to be hiding something, including the missing boy's mother, who is evasive and defensive; a group of hunters who are fiercely territorial about the forest; and a mysterious man named Johan who seems to have a connection to Eva's past.
Meanwhile, Eva also has to deal with her own personal demons, including the death of her daughter seven years earlier and her strained relationship with her ex-husband. And as the investigation progresses, she begins to experience strange hallucinations and visions that suggest that there is more to the Jordskott forest than meets the eye.
"Jordskott: Part 1" is a tense and atmospheric opening to the series, setting up a complex web of mysteries and intrigues within a rich and vividly realized setting. With its blend of crime procedural, supernatural thriller, and family drama, the episode offers a tantalizing glimpse into what promises to be a gripping and unpredictable series.
