Sana and her friends Naozumi and Tsuyoshi are excited to participate in their school's cultural festival. Naozumi is playing guitar in a band, Tsuyoshi is helping out with the school store, and Sana is performing a comedy skit with Hayama. However, their plans are disrupted when their homeroom teacher, Miss Kurata, announces that their class has been selected to participate in a chicken-catching competition.
Sana is horrified at the thought of catching chickens, but she is determined to win in order to protect her reputation as a class leader. Miss Kurata explains that the competition is a traditional event and that the prize is a delicious chicken dinner. Sana reluctantly agrees to participate.
The competition consists of several rounds, with each round featuring different obstacles to make it more difficult to catch the chickens. Sana and her classmates struggle to catch the chickens and they are quickly falling behind the other classes. Sana becomes frustrated and wishes they had never agreed to participate.
As the competition continues, Sana begins to understand the importance of perseverance and teamwork. She encourages her classmates to keep trying and not give up. With their spirits lifted, they manage to catch more chickens and even win a round.
The final round is the most challenging, with the chickens placed in a large muddy field. The students are covered in mud and struggle to catch the chickens. Sana refuses to give up and continues to encourage her classmates. They finally manage to catch the last chicken and win the competition.
In the end, the chicken dinner prize is forgotten as Sana and her classmates celebrate their victory as a team. Sana realizes that even though she did not want to participate in the competition, it brought her closer to her classmates and taught her the value of perseverance and teamwork.
