A successful author and single father, Eric Redford, is on a mission to finish his latest book before Christmas. The last thing he needs is a distraction, but when his young niece and nephew show up unexpectedly at his door, he can't turn them away. With their parents out of town, the kids need a place to stay for a few days, and Eric reluctantly agrees to take them in.

Eric's life is turned upside down as he juggles his writing deadline with his new responsibilities as a temporary caretaker. The kids are full of energy and constantly getting into mischief, making it nearly impossible for Eric to focus on his work.
