In the episode "No Steam Without Coal" from season 18 of Thomas & Friends, we see Thomas and his friends facing a problem at the steamworks when they run out of coal. The team needs to find a way to keep the steam engines running without it.

Thomas and Percy decide that they will help each other out by using a special kind of coal that their friend James uses. The coal burns slowly and works well for the engines, but it is hard to find. James comes to their rescue and helps them find the special coal. They also realize that they can use other forms of fuel to keep the engines running, such as wood and oil.

As they search for the special coal, Thomas and Percy learn that different types of engines need different types of fuel to run properly. They encounter a new friend, an electric engine named Millie who runs on electricity. Millie teaches them about the benefits of electric engines, such as their ability to recharge quickly and not need any fuel.

The other engines, who are still dependent on coal, have a hard time adjusting to the new ways of powering their engines. They struggle with using wood and oil, and some even try using dirt! It becomes clear that they need to find a way to revive the coal mine if they want to continue using coal as their main fuel source.

Eventually, Thomas and his friends discover a new coal mine, and they work together to revive the mine and bring back the coal that they need. The engines are then able to continue using coal as their main fuel source, but they also learn to appreciate the other types of fuel they discovered.

Throughout the episode, Thomas and his friends learn about the importance of being resourceful and finding solutions to problems. They also learn about the benefits of using different types of fuel and about the importance of conserving resources.

"No Steam Without Coal" is a fun and educational episode of Thomas & Friends that engages young viewers while teaching important lessons about resourcefulness and environmentalism.
